The Heroine of A Secret Gift is Celeste Franklin. Her story starts on a cold winter day. A blizzard whistled through the window panes of her quiet house. She slumped on the overstuffed sofa with a warmed coffee mug in hand. The hearth popped and fizzed as a small fire burned. An evergreen tree in the corner flashed with different colored lights. Animated Christmas garland and tinsel danced. A fragrance of natural pine and apple spice permeated the air around her. The warmth hugged her with comfort that didn’t quite sink into her skin.

Her heart plummeted when she stared at nothing under the tree. Her sister had gone on a wild adventure and her mother had succumbed to the last stages of Alzheimer’s. Last week she organized and attended her father’s funeral. Celeste sat alone on a holiday designed to be enjoyed by family.

Tears trickled from the corners of her eyes. Compelled by loneliness, she picked up a piece of paper and a pen. She wrote a letter to Santa Claus and pleaded for companionship. A fanciful dream to believe in. But nobody should be alone on the holiday. Then, she took the wish one step further and mailed the letter. Like a journal entry wrinkled and tossed into the trash, the letter was forgotten. Celeste moved on with her life.

She threw herself into her job and created a successful computer program that matched lovers together. She built a strong friendship with her boss and took pride in her ability to earn the respect from her employees. She rejoiced in her relationships.

One day, her boss confessed that he was Cupid. His delusion saddened her but friendship-bound she listened. He had told a story involving Kris Kringle. He had claimed a friendship with the fantasy figure and revealed that Kris had crossed a line. Kris had made men from magical snow in response to the stack of lonely, holiday letters he’d received.

Celeste had finally flipped the crazy bit on her boss when he assigned her to hunt down the cold-blooded men. He wanted her to shoot these snowmen with a long bow and special arrows. When she did, she’d restore his matchmaking campaign the way it was meant to be.

Out of devotion, she played along and created a tracking program. She came in contact with one of the snowmen and he admitted that her letter, her plea, had been one of the approved. He said if she believed then he’d convert into her perfect man.

Challenged to open her mind, she actually began to accept this folklore as true. But her perfect man didn’t want to convert. His name is White. He’s the hero. He would rather melt then give into his destiny.

All humans were monsters. They were greedy, selfish, bastards out for their own gain. His entire life had been devoted to safeguarding Kris Kringle. And he loved it. He was good at it. Stalkers, media, and competitors had hunted his creator for secrets to Kringle Enterprises; a long standing toy manufacturer and distributer. He wanted to remain the leader of Santa’s Secret Service forever, but he was force to retire.

When he found the woman behind his letter, he wasn’t surprised that Celeste was one of Cupids top archers. Out to destroy the snowmen’s final objective to find their true love. While he protected the other snowmen from her arrows, he welcomed her ignorance; encouraged it. After all, why in the hail would he want to become one of them?

Committed to be enemies, Celeste and White fight through a turbulent plot that combines action, intrigue, and romantic fantasy. They grow to open their minds to unimaginable possibilities. Have faith in the goodness of people, and develop their threshold for trust. As fate and destiny intended, they live a happy ever after, together.
