I am a mother of two adorable kids that see my writing for what it is: something I do that makes me happy. My husband is extremely supportive and serves as my pep squad when the rejections get too hard for me to brush off.  It’s because of my loving family that I write stories with happy endings. I couldn’t image anything else. Every day, I find myself wondering what I did that made me so lucky to have my family’s love, acceptance, and support.

JudyDawnI grew up to attack first ask questions later. I was one of the bluntest six year olds anyone had ever met. My parents got calls from the school at least once a week because I had fought with another student. I know the adrenaline rush involved in a fight. I feel the heart pounding, fists clenching, teeth grinding to a point that makes me cringe harder at the thought of my next dentist appointment. I still find myself quick to respond, to argue first, but now that I’m older and wiser, I have learned to bite my tongue just in time to save my neck. Writing action serves as an outlet for this built in (often ugly) initial response to things. I know that if I didn’t write action packed, heart pounding, fist fights, I wouldn’t be the approachable person I am today.

For me, writing the story is first about the characters. I want to take my characters on a ride that will change their fictional lives. I want to push them to the limit emotionally and physically. I want them to stand alone and do almost impossible things. I guess, I’m looking to create the modern day super hero!

The story is also about the reader. In my writing, I want to make seemingly intangible dreams become reality. I believe that the idea of a modern day super hero isn’t all fiction. I like to read new theories of biogenetics that explain our natural inherited make-up. I apply the theories in entertaining fictional stories to create a “what if” tale that, I hope, engages the minds of others to think about true super human possibilities.

My father always told me that “Knowledge is power!” Ultimately, I want to empower my readers to live their lives to the fullest by giving them knowledge and understanding about the naturally amazing human genetic capabilities within them.
